Liberator of Them

Also, spin off in the ninth season, I feel like this is the only show to accomplish that. Fucking props Supernatural.

I had no idea I so badly wanted a show about a fledgling hunter and a shapeshifter working together until now. I was kind of put off by this episode at the beginning, but twenty minutes in and I’m completely on board for this spin off.

(I had other funny tags but the combination of tumblr and drunk ended in all but two of them being deleted and I don’t have the energy at two in the morning to fix it, so this is all you get for now! Yay!)

Yes I absolutely turned on the tv to watch Community just so you could ask me to throw something away and you could then turn something on. After you’ve already taken over the living room all fucking day

One of my absolute favorite visuals in the world is that of smoke playing off fingertips while you hold a cigarette

“Do you also think it’s odd that white men commit the overwhelming majority of mass murders,” wondered Nancy Hogshead-Makar, Senior Director of Advocacy for the Women’s Sports Foundation, “but that people don’t identify that as a causal factor? Instead we talk about mental illness and gun control. If it were Asian women or Jewish men or elderly African-American, it would be topic number one. But not white men.” In fact, the media response to mass shootings often reimagines white men as victims.

Scarlet Letters: Getting the History of Abortion and Contraception Right

Abortion was not just legal—it was a safe, condoned, and practiced procedure in colonial America and common enough to appear in the legal and medical records of the period….

17% of cardiac surgeons are women, 17% of tenured professors are women. It just goes on and on. And isn’t that strange that that’s also the percentage of women in crowd scenes in movies? What if we’re actually training people to see that ratio as normal so that when you’re an adult, you don’t notice?

…We just heard a fascinating and disturbing study where they looked at the ratio of men and women in groups. And they found that if there’s 17% women, the men in the group think it’s 50-50. And if there’s 33% women, the men perceive that as there being more women in the room than men.
